Frequently asked questions
What resolution are the images?
PDF to JPG renders pages at 108 dpi for Normal, 144 dpi for High and 216 dpi for Very high. An A4 page converted at High comes out at about 1190 × 1684 pixels. Higher resolutions look sharper but also make larger files.
Can I convert only certain pages?
PDF to JPG converts every page of the document. If you only need some pages, first make a PDF with just those pages using Split PDF or Remove PDF Pages, then convert that file.
What JPG quality is used?
PDF to JPG saves images at JPG quality 85%, and this setting can't be changed. For sharper images, raise the resolution to Very high instead. Each image is named after the original file with the page number added, such as _1 and _2.
Is it free?
Yes. Use it free in your web browser, with no sign-up or software to install.
Are my files stored on a server?
No. This tool runs inside your browser, so your file is never sent to a server and never leaves your device.
Which files can I use?
You can add one PDF file at a time.
How long does it take?
In our test in Chrome on a 2021 MacBook Pro (M1 Pro), turning a 20-page PDF into 20 JPGs took about 0.9 seconds (the middle of three runs). The work happens on your own device, so older or slower devices take longer.
